Modern Salon’s FirstChair magazine editor, Melissa Hill, featured Empire Education Group and referenced Empire’s National Competition and Hair Show, of which she attended in 2007.
Hill’s “editor’s letter” column in the front of the magazine described her experience as a guest at Empire Education Group’s 2007 National Competition in which she stated:
“Students from the Empire network gathered for two days of education, competition and celebration of a great year. The best part of the weekend was the competition, with a student from each school chosen to compete in men’s hair cuts, women’s hair cuts, women’s updos and nails, all performed on mannequins in one hour. The hair was incredibly impressive and creative, but the energy and excitement for this industry was what impressed me the most. The picture is me (I’m buried somewhere amid the pompoms) with Frank Schoeneman, president of Empire, and a group of the most spirited students. I hope to go back again next year!”
